‘Westerham is a real taste of the country’

You’ll find Westerham just ten miles west of Sevenoaks in Kent and south of the North Downs where an inspiring history, glorious fresh air, stunning views and great food will welcome you at any time of the year.

Westerham represents a real taste of the country that’s built on tradition, but with a modern twist. It was recorded in the Domesday Book and sits on the River Darent, which used to power the town’s three watermills and is the site of the ruins of an 18th century tower. The tower was either a medieval watchtower or the holding place for Anne Boleyn on her journey to London for her trial and execution, depending on which locals you talk to!

Westerham is steeped in the past with many national treasures to explore, including Winston Churchill’s Chartwell and Hever Castle and there are around 20 places to eat, drink and relax before you visit the town’s wide range of interesting traditional shops and check out the local events that are held throughout the year.
