‘Hungerford, a town with something for everyone’Hungerford is a small, historic market town that’s set on the River Dun in the Kennet Valley and within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town is the perfect base for exploring the Downs’ amazing landscape and the Kennet and Avon Canal, either from the comfort of a boat or by walking or cycling along the picturesque tow-path. Hungerford is also home to several unique annual events, including a three-week arts festival, a winter Victorian extravaganza and Tutti Day at Easter. Hungerford is the only place in the country to have continuously celebrated Tutti Day, held in memory of the town's great patron, John of Gaunt, the 1st Duke of Lancaster and son of King Edward III. The town is also renowned as something of a shoppers’ paradise, but whether you come to enjoy the many and varied shops, the landscape or an excellent variety of pubs and restaurants, Hungerford has something for everyone.
